League titles, knockout triumphs, and fantastic cup runs, it's been a year to remember for the Light Blues across BUCS (British Universities and College Sport) league and knockout competitions!
53 teams entered the BUCS winter season at the start of Michaelmas, ultimately completing 563 fixtures across 18 sports by the end of Lent term. With all fixtures now concluded, we can announce that we have 12 league champions! Congratulations to:
Badminton W1, Baseball, Football M2, Football M3, Football W2, Hockey W2, Netball 4, Squash M1, Squash W1, Table Tennis M1, Tennis W1, and Ultimate M1.
Tennis W1 achieve back-to-back league titles, having been promoted into Premier South for this season, and are this year’s highest division finishers! Our two new entries, Football M3 & W2, impress in their inaugural year competing at BUCS level, with dominant seasons in their respective leagues to earn promotion. Hockey W2, Squash M1, and Squash W1 all reach Tier 1 for the first time in their history and will be competing against the very best across the Midlands next year!

In addition to the league successes, we have also witnessed some great cup runs this year, culminating at Conference Finals Day! 7 teams made it to the final and represented the Light Blues at the University of Birmingham. Congratulations to; Badminton W1, Football M3, and Squash W1, who all returned to Cambridge with the silverware! Just missing out this time were Basketball W1, Netball W4, Table Tennis M1, and Water Polo M2, who all can celebrate successful seasons nonetheless.

As the term wraps up, our attention will soon turn to Easter’s League action, where Cambridge University Cricket Club (CUCC) will be competing with three teams in the BUCS National and Midlands leagues.
