Give it a Go: Frequently Asked Questions

Interesting in attending the Give it a Go programme but want to know some more information before signing up, check out our list of Frequently Asked Questions below:

 

1. Can I just turn up to a Give it a Go session?

'No, you must book in advance to secure your space. Sessions open seven days before the session is due to take place and often book up quickly, and only students with a valid booking with be allowed to take part.'

 

2. Does it matter if I have never played the sport before?

'Not at all - people of all abilities are welcome to all our Give it a Go sessions, whether you've never played or want to pick up an old hobby again! We have a coach or an activator at all our sessions to adapt to all ability levels so just turn up and have fun!'

 

3. Can I come alone?

'Absolutely! Many students come by themselves, it's a friendly and welcoming environment, and a great way to meet people.'

 

4. What if I can't attend the sessions every week?

'Not a problem, the Give it a Go sessions are designed with the busy students in mind. They are commitment free, so you can dip in and out throughout the year. Don't forget though, the more you attend, the bigger the health and wellbeing benefits!'

 

5. Can I go to more than one Give it a Go session?

'Yes, you can attend as many Give it a Go sessions as you can fit in! The programme is designed to help students try as many sports as possible to find the ones they enjoy the most.'

 

6. What should I wear to a Give it a Go session?

'Wear comfortable sports clothing and suitable footwear. If the session is outdoors, then warm/waterproof clothing is recommended.'

 

7. Do I need to bring my own equipment?

'All equipment will be provided! Make sure you are suitably dressed, have water to keep yourself hydrated and have pre-registered for your chosen session.'

 

8. Is Give it a Go inclusive for all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs?

'Yes, inclusivity is at the heart of the Give it a Go programme. If you have specific accessibility needs, religious considerations or concerns please get in touch and we'll do our best to accommodate.'

 

9. Who runs the sessions?

'All sessions are led by an instructor, some by qualified coaches, and some by student activators. They're there to support you and make sure everyone feels welcome and included.'
