About
Mark Brian joined Cambridge as Director of Sport in January 2025, following seven years as Head of Sport at Durham University and 17 years at BUSA/BUCS, where he oversaw Europe's largest sporting programme.
In his first year at Cambridge, Mark focused on listening and laying strong foundations, engaging with Sports Committee members, College Masters, and partners across the University. His role is to ensure the Sports Service delivers against the five-year Strategy for Sport and Physical Activity, working across five key areas: Active Students, Active Staff, Sports Clubs, Performance, and Business and Facility Development.
Outside the Sports Service, Mark sits on the Board of Cambridge United Women's Football Club and is a Bye-Fellow at Jesus College. In his spare time, he enjoys road cycling, going to the gym, playing the guitar, and supporting his children in their sporting endeavours.
