Sports Awards 2025 - Sports Club Personality of the Year Shortlist

The Sports Club Personality of the Year is the individual who is the life and soul of your club – they’re loved by all and your club is a better one to be a part of because of them.

They might not necessarily be a Captain or committee member, but these individuals have all made a huge impact within their clubs and will be sorely missed when they leave!

Got your tickets for the big event yet? Reserve them for free, and join us to see who is crowned Sports Club Personality of the Year at the Sports Awards Event on Monday 23rd June.

Here's more about each of our fantastic nominees:

Ali-Mae Brown, Fitzwilliam, CU Rugby Union Football Club

Ali has been a non-stop ball of fun, not only is she incredible on the pitch, being our top try-scorer all season, she lifts the groups spirts purely by existing. This club would not have been as fun as it has been without her. Both on the pitch, at our lowest moments, and off the pitch on our early morning buses or in revs after a social - Ali is always there making sure everyone is having a laugh.

Cecilia Shang, Murray Edwards, CU Dance Competition Team

Cecilia Shang is undoubtedly the face that lights up the community of the Cambridge University Dance Competition Team (CUDCT) and Dance Society (CUDS). In just one year of being in Cambridge, Cici has made an impressive positive impact on the dance community in Cambridge, even without holding a committee position.

Quickly upon joining the team, Cici single-handedly organised an ambitious fundraising push for CUDCT, enabling the team to compete at our first two-day competition in Loughborough. Her initiative continued throughout the year with the CUDCT captains and choreographers frequently relying on her to lead small group rehearsals and learn new parts of dances, especially when injury and illness struck the team late in the season.

On a more personal level, Cici brought bright smiles and infectious positivity to every rehearsal and social, particularly making younger members of the team feel welcome and included, even as a new member herself. Cici is a model teammate and society member, and played an essential role in CUDCT’s success this year by always keeping the morale of the team high. For her warmth, support, and unwavering commitment to dance in Cambridge, we strongly recommend Cecilia for the Sports Club Personality of the Year award.

Jude Borgan, Newnham, CU Taekwondo Club

Jude brings incredible energy and positivity to every training session, consistently lifting the mood and motivating everyone around her. Her dedication to making the club an inclusive, vibrant, and supportive space is truly inspiring.

She has played a huge role in making the club feel welcoming and united, and she truly embodies what it means to be a proud and passionate committee member. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and her presence encourages others to show up, give their best, and feel proud to be part of the team.

Jude’s smile alone has the power to brighten the room and make people want to become the best version of themselves. She has left a lasting impact on the club, and we are incredibly proud of everything she’s contributed.

Tads Ciecierski-Holmes, Wolfson, CU Modern Pentathlon Club

Tads is the most loved member of Cambridge University Pentathlon Club and our club is a success because of him.

Alongside organising and coaching existing training, Tads networked, researched, and organised obstacle course training which was a new sport to Modern Pentathlon this year. Tads was a fundamental player in enabling the first BUCS para pentathlon event to go ahead. Tads coordinates the shared use of coaches, pool time, fencing time, and running time across triathlon, development swim squad, and the fencing club.

Tads advocates for the sport, encourages beginners to give it a go and enticing pathway athletes who have lost the love of the sport to come back to it and be part of the fantastic community that is Modern Pentathlon at Cambridge.

Tads is the life and the soul of the club and deserves recognition for everything he does.
