UCAPP Athlete Profile: James Ackland - Orienteering

Name: James Ackland

College: Emmanuel

Studying: PhD Psychology

 

What does this sporting year hold for you?

"There are some opportunities to represent Great Britain [and also] my Swedish club, Södertälje"

His sporting achievements over the past two years include three international appearances for GB at the World Universities Orienteering Championships, and two international appearances for Scotland at the Senior Home Internationals. He currently ranks 15th nationally for orienteering, and took 2nd place in the relay and 10th in the individual races at BUCS 2022. This sporting year, James aims to continue to achieve selection in GB international squads, particularly for the World Cups and the sprint Euromeeting in Stirling. He also aims to podium for CUOC at BUCS and Varsity, and make selection for Södertälje-Nykvarn Orienteering teams at the major club international relays Jukola and Tiomila.
