Receptionist (Part time, Temporary Cover)

If you're interested in working in a dynamic customer-focused, sports and fitness environment and are passionate about providing quality customer service then this role could be what you're looking for.

Based at the University Sports Centre, West Cambridge, you will principally work every Thursday 5.15pm-10.15pm, with potential to take on additional shifts covering the annual leave of other receptionists.

Working as a part of a team of Reception staff who provide a welcoming and effective reception service for our varied customer and member base, you will be selling memberships, taking bookings and responding to enquiries relating to our sports facilities and other services.

We are looking for people who are outgoing, with demonstrable experience of providing quality customer service with excellent communication skills. An effective organiser, the ability to deal professionally and tactfully with enquiries is also a must. Experience of cash and payment handling in a busy reception would be an advantage, as well as an interest in sport and fitness.

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 13 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.

This opportunity is on a part-time, permanent basis.

Sports and Fitness Assistant

As such, you will need to be hard working, positive and enthusiastic about helping other people to achieve their health, wellbeing and fitness goals.

As a Sports and Fitness Assistant, you will be primarily based in the fitness facilities and will be fundamental to the positive experience that we wish all members of the Sports Centre to receive. Working on the frontline, you are likely to be the first, and sometimes only, member of staff our customers interact with on a day-to-day basis.

We expect you to be available and approachable to all members, allowing you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and skills which sets you, and therefore us, ahead of the competition. By creating and building professional relationships, the Sports and Fitness Assistant will be strongly positioned to enhance the customer experience, leading to membership retention and broader engagement across Sports Service activities.

Priority should be given to fulfilling the needs of the Gym and when required, assisting with operational duties, cover and events.

You will need to possess a minimum of a Level 2 Gym Instructor Award or equivalent.
