Sports Club Coordinator

Sport and physical activity is an integral part of the student and staff experience at Cambridge. Provision for sport at the University is, in the main, divided between the Colleges, the University sporting clubs and the University. The University has 52 student sports clubs that cater for a range of standards, from beginner through to high performance athletes. Teams compete in national and local leagues, traditional fixtures, BUCS and Varsity matches.

The University is currently in the process of transferring responsibility for supporting sports clubs from the Proctors Office to the Sports Service. As part of this process, the Sports Service is working with clubs to review their governance, financial management systems, employment terms, safety and welfare policies and procedures. It is also providing greater guidance and support in relation to building sustainable clubs and delivering a positive student and alumni experience.

The role holder will be part of the team charged with facilitating the transfer of University sports clubs from the Proctors Office to the Sports Service; providing advice to student-led sports clubs to enable them to meet the requirements of the new registration process and developing centralised training and development opportunities for club committee members, coaches and volunteers.

The role will require sound administration and organisational skills, a methodical approach to managing information and excellent interpersonal skills. Applicants should be educated to A-level standard (or equivalent) and have GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English. Applicants should also have experience of working in an environment that involves supporting students, student groups, sports clubs and/or volunteers.
