The Sport Service is the governing body for sport at the University of Cambridge.
Collaborating with a width breadth of University and Community partners driven by our Strategy for Sport 2023-2027, the Sports Service supports Sports Clubs and individual students at Cambridge in a diverse range of competitive and recreational sporting opportunities.
Our aim is to ensure the student sporting experience matches the world-class education provision.
Useful information about the support for Sports Clubs and Societies can be found by below. If you have any questions please get in touch with a member of the team via our contact details below or email Registration@sport.cam.ac.uk
The Sports Service has a teamwear partnership with Canterbury Clothing Company (CCC) and their service provider Tylers Sportswear.
CCC and Tylers will provide custom sports apparel for competitive performance as well as for training, off field and travel wear in our bespoke Cambridge Blue colour.
This partnership means clubs can be sure of receiving high quality kit at discounted prices within an agreed timescale from a supplier who has been officially licensed to use the Red Lion and University of Cambridge branding.
Online webshops can be accessed via the new Cambridge University Sports website: www.cambridge-university-sports.co.uk
If your Club or Society would like access to the web shop, please get in contact with teamwear@sport.cam.ac.uk
Transport for Sports Clubs
The Sports Service pays initial invoices from suppliers before recharging clubs, so clubs pay the Sports Service rather than external suppliers. You can expect to receive invoices for the clubs expenses each month, with a further breakdown provided at the end of each term.
Transport Policy
All Clubs travelling on coordinated transport must abide by the Sports Service Transport Policy. The Policy applies to all University of Cambridge Sports Club members and representatives, inclusive of committee members, captains, coaches, volunteers and supporters. The Policy can be found here.
Coach & Minibus
Our preferred suppliers are Alison's of Cambridge, though we also use other trusted local companies occasionally on busy days. Vehicles range from 16 seater minibuses to 64 seater coaches. Prices vary depending on destination and length of trip.
To get a quote for your trip, contact us with your destination, number of passengers, arrival time and departure time.
Where possible, we can arrange shared transport with another club in order to reduce costs.
For more information on booking a coach, please contact a member of the team at transport@sport.cam.ac.uk
Car Hire
Our suppliers for car & van hire are Enterprise Rent-A-Car. With a large fleet and competitive rates, this represents a good option for travel particularly for small teams and/or events taking place locally.
The University has a corporate agreement with Enterprise, which mean vehicle excess in case of damage is much lower (standard retail excess is £850 to £1000, with Enterprise it is £350 on small cars), so when damage occurs it doesn't create financial pressure for one student or a club. The damage policy with Enterprise is very clear, unlike some other providers. More info - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL_qUYxAgSU
The daily rate varies between ~£40-100 (excluding fuel costs) depending on the size of vehicle you require. The minimum age for drivers is 21 for small cars, 25 for 7 seaters and vans.
The Enterprise branch is located on Swanns Road (https://g.page/EnterpriseCambridgeCityCentre?share) – open 9AM-5PM on weekdays, and weekend opening hours are 9AM-12PM on Saturdays, 10AM-1PM on Sundays – you must collect/return during opening hours. There is cycle parking at the branch behind a locked gate so you can safely leave bikes there too.
To request a car hire, please complete this booking form.
