Safety Officer Training

Safety Officer training

One of the key responsibilities of your club Committee is to ensure that your members, and those who you encounter, are safe during your club activities.

If your club manages safety effectively then it should not be onerous, and your club will be better for it.

The Sports Service has a range of support and oversight functions in place to support with these responsibilities.

Online Safety Training

This years Safety training will take place virtually, It is mandatory that at least one committee member from every club should attend this training. The training should not last longer than 30 min. Sessions times are advertised below, the content will be the same at each session so you only need to attend one.

  • Tuesday 1st October 13:00 - 13:30
  • Thursday 3rd October 17:00 - 17:30

Please use the form below to book onto your training.

Guidance Documents and Training Courses

The Safety@sport guidance document provides an overview of the safety arrangements that every club will need to consider, you can find it here

There are two courses that clubs should be aware of and that committee members must complete, these can be found under the training tab on the Moodle site.

  1. Essentials for Safety Management in Sports Clubs. It is mandatory that at least one committee member from every club completes the course each year - usually this will be the Safety Officer (but it is useful for all committee members too).

  1. Risk Assessment will be a core element of managing safety in your club. This course will give you the information you need in order to complete this activity successfully.
