Georgina Chamberlain Selected for England Squad in Clay Pigeon Shooting
Congratulations to King’s College student and Cambridge University Clay Pigeon Club member, Georgina Chamberlain, who this week has been selected to represent England at the European Championships in France.
Having only started the sport as a fresher in 2019; Georgina’s selection takes one step closer to the World Championships in New Zealand.
Georgina’s coach, Richard, notes that her “rise has been nothing short of extraordinary and the product of vision, structure, and belief.” Richard goes on to say that Georgina’s journey “reminds us of what university sport is really about. It’s not just the medals, it’s the transformation. Watching someone become the version of themselves they didn’t know existed yet.”
At Varsity, Georgina won Women’s High Gun (overall winner) three years in a row and helped Cambridge to dominant team wins. Success continued at British Universities and College Sport (BUCS) competitions, competing every year since 2021, finishing fourth in the UK in 2024, and leading the women’s team to back-to-back gold medals.
In recognition of her remarkable journey, Georgina became the first ever recipient of an Extraordinary Full Blue in Clay Pigeon Shooting at Cambridge.
The Cambridge University Clay Pigeon Club have recently been nominated for Club of the Year at the 2025 Sports Awards, as well as the Women’s A Team for Team of the Year.
CUMPC’s Tads Ciecierski-Holmes Earns Double Team GB Call-Up
We also celebrate Cambridge University Modern Pentathlon Club (CUMPC) member, Tads Ciecierski-Holmes (Wolfson), who has been called up by Team GB twice in recent weeks. The first of these will be to compete in the European 3km Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) Championships, taking place in Portugal next week.
This comes just a year after Obstacle Course Racing was introduced as a new discipline in modern pentathlon, replacing horse riding — a significant shift in the sport’s structure. Tads’ rapid adaptation to OCR highlights his exceptional versatility and commitment to staying at the forefront of the sport!
In addition to his OCR success, Tads has qualified to compete at the European Triathle Championships in Turkey this November, once again donning the Team GB vest.
Tads has had outstanding performances at the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championships in recent season, claiming three individual medals over the past three years — including individual gold in 2024 to go along with multiple team accolades. This success has continued at Varsity, helping CUMPC to take home the Presidents Competition (overall points) and individuals men’s competition this year.
Recognising his achievements and impact within the club, Tads has also been nominated for the Sports Club Personality of the Year award at Sports Awards.
Best of luck to both Georgina and Tads, follow @camunisport on Instagram to stay up to date!
We look forward to celebrating all our successes next week. Join us on Monday the 23rd of June at 13:00 to find out our Sports Awards winners!
