Last weekend saw a prospective Goldie crew take on Thames RC, and a prospective lightweight crew take on London Rowing Club.

Saturday’s racing against Thames provided a good challenge for the prospective Goldie lineup, stroked by New Zealand Olympian Jamie Hunter (St. Catharine’s). The speed of the Thames crew showed off the line in both pieces, dropping the young Cambridge crew. Nonetheless, the class of the Cambridge men showed as they rowed back through Thames in both pieces, winning the first by 1.5 lengths of clear water, and the second by 2 lengths clear.

On Sunday, Cambridge’s lightweights followed with a series of 4 minute pieces against London Rowing Club. Lightweight President Matt Edge commented that the challenge was just what they needed. Honours were shared in the pieces, both crews taking two wins apiece.
