Cambridge University Athletics Club (CUAC) sent a large contingent of athletes to the recent 3-day BUCS Outdoor Athletics Championships at Bedford Stadium with athletes making 10 of the finals and a further 5 athletes recording personal bests.
Congratulations to the below athletes who made finals
- Maciej Maruszczak - 12th in men’s shot put final (12.81m in prelims and 11.01m in the final)
- Flo Cochrane - 10th in the women’s high jump final (pb of 1.64m in the prelims and then 1.57m in the final)
- Mary Adeniji - 10th in the women’s long jump final (5.33m in the final and 5.50m in prelims)
- Mary Adeniji - 4th in the women’s triple jump final (11.63m in prelims and a pb of 11.91m in finals)
- Bridget Fryer - 10th in the women’s discus final (pb of 39.82m in prelims and pb of 38.86m in the final)
- Emily Ruane - 11th in the women’s 5000m final (pb of 16:41.35, no prelims)
- Nancy Scott - 7th in the women’s steeplechase final (7:11.93, no prelims)
- Jeremy Dempsey - 6th in the men’s 1500m (3:54.39 in the final, 3:53.08 in the semis and 3:57.52 in the prelims)
- Phillip Crout - 6th in the men’s 5000m (14:38.79, no prelims)
- Jude Compton-Stewart - 8th in the men’s javelin final (52.87m in the final and 49.74m in prelims)
And these athletes who achieved personal bests:
- Flo Cochrane - 100m - 12.68s
- James Walden - 100m - 10.76s
- Joe Burton - 400m - 50.62s
- Sam Clarke - 400m hurdles - 54.98s
- Jack Wickham - 110m hurdles - 16.09s
The Club are now preparing for their Varsity Match against Oxford which will take place in Cambridge on Saturday 18 May 2019.
