About Us
Cambridge University Volleyball Club (CUVC) is dedicated to playing and promoting volleyball of all levels at the University of Cambridge. CUVC is also a community, bringing together all those at the University with a shared passion for Volleyball.
On the competitive side, we have first (“Blues”) and second (UCC) teams for both men and women, which all participate in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues and cups. Every year we also compete in Varsity against Oxford.
In the 2024/2025 season CUVC achieved several accolades. Including the Blues Women reaching the quarter finals in the National Championships, and the Blues Men achieving top 3 in the 1st tier of regionals. For our second teams, the Women’s team reached the Conference Cup semifinals, and the Men were able to reach top 3 in their tier. As for Varsity, Cambridge took it home with a 3-1 win. As well as winning the Cambridge Sports Awards 2025: Sporting Moment of The Year 2025, due to the amazing 38 – 36 set victory from the Blues Men.
Although we are most committed to indoor volleyball, we have plenty of avid beach volleyball players who organize beach sessions and participate in the BUCS Beach Volleyball tournament in Easter term. And as of 2025, Cambridge will go head-to-head with Oxford in Beach Volleyball Varsity held in Easter Term.
Whether you're a complete beginner curious to try volleyball, a passionate enthusiast not ready to commit fully, or someone who hasn’t yet explored competitive play, CUVC offers plenty of opportunities to get involved. During Michaelmas and Lent terms, we run Development Sessions led by club members, perfect for those who want to improve their skills in an encouraging and friendly environment. Later in the year, around late Lent and early Easter term, CUVC hosts an intercollege tournament called Cuppers, a fun and low-commitment way to enjoy volleyball while competing with fellow Cambridge Colleges.
