About Us
CUDS
CU Dance Society (CUDS) is a student run society of the University of Cambridge offering dance classes in Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Lyrical, Street, Commercial and Heels. With options for all levels - from complete beginners to advanced dancers - it's a friendly and inclusive space for anyone with a passion for dance.
Classes are open to everyone in the Cambridge area, not just University students, and welcome people of all backgrounds and interests. Sessions are led by a mix of professional and student teachers and take place mainly in college venues.
Each February, we host an annual showcase at the Leys School, giving members the chance to perform and celebrate their progress. We also run regular socials throughout the year, creating a fun and supportive community both in and out of the studio.
CUDCT
The Cambridge University Dance Competition Team half-blues (CUDCT) are a student led dance competition team running under the CU Dance Society. The team competes in both Varsity and national competitions each Lent term, entering high-level, student-choreographed pieces in the advanced ballet, tap, street, jazz, contemporary, wildcard and solo/duet/trio categories.
Members partake in both weekly rehearsals which gradually create advanced and technical competition routines, and conditioning sessions which focus on building balanced, elite dancers. The team also has the chance to take part in the annual CUDS showcase at The Leys School.
CUDCT trains hard, but also enjoys fun socials, workshops and awards dinners throughout the year. We hold auditions at the beginning of Michaelmas term each year.
The CUDCT is a great way to get involved in elite-level dance in a fun, social and supportive environment.
