OULC and CULC are saddened to share the news of the passing of Peter Baddoo (1993-2023)

(Oxford 2011-15; Cambridge 2015-19)

Pete was a club captain, a gifted scholar, a powerful competitor, and above all truly the most generous friend and teammate we could wish for. We loved him dearly.

We remember Pete as a brilliant sportsman and a steady, anchoring rock in our lacrosse community. He competed in six varsity games and earned Blues at both universities, before launching a stellar career as a postdoctoral researcher in applied mathematics at Imperial College and MIT.

Those of us whose lives he touched are left with a deep sense of loss, but a profound gratitude for the precious memories we will always cherish. He was the voice of reason at an unreasonable age, inspiring his teammates to be better players and his friends to be better people.

At the very centre of Pete’s life was his unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ, and he had the certain hope of eternal life with Jesus. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Pete’s life at Wycliffe Baptist Church, Reading, RG1 4LS on Saturday 18th March at 13:00. All who knew Pete are welcome to attend.

The lacrosse communities of Oxford and Cambridge extend our deepest sympathies to Pete’s family, and to his fiancée, Yuna, whom he was to marry this spring. The depth of our grief reflects the strength of our enduring love for our teammate and dearest friend.

Please join us in observing a one-minute silence before the Men’s Blues match at 13:00 in memory of Pete’s life.
