CUBC appoint new Assistant Coach

Cambridge University Boat Club (CUBC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jordan Stanley to the position of Assistant Coach. Jordan will join the club at the start of September for the 2019/20 Season.

A native of Auckland, New Zealand, Jordan learnt to row at Westlake Boys’ High School at the age of 13, proceeding to representative honours at World Junior and University level. Jordan commenced coaching at Westlake in the first year of his university degree and was for three years the Director of Rowing and Head Coach at Westlake. At Westlake, he achieved several National Championship titles, and consistent A-Finals in the New Zealand Maadi Cup.

Most recently, Jordan has been Director of Rowing at the University of St Andrews where he made an immediate impact on the program, leading the Club to its best ever Henley Royal Regatta result, along with a number of wins at BUCS and Scottish Championships.

On his appointment to CUBC, Jordan said 'It's every coach's dream to be involved in the Boat Race. Coming from a rowing family where both my parents were international representatives, along with my sister, the Boat Race was something I watched every year and wanted to be a part of. It's a privilege to be a part of CUBC, and I look forward to working with Rob and the squad to develop the fastest crews to represent Cambridge’.

Chief Coach Rob Baker commented 'I'm looking forward to working with Jordan and being a part of his development as a coach. His record is impressive and I believe he will be a great addition to CUBC. Wherever he has coached, Jordan has made crews go faster. His enthusiasm for developing athletes and a culture that encourages each and every athlete to achieve their best for the good of the team shines through, and I'm certain that he will bring this to CUBC".
