Matt Matcham

Matt completed his Personal Trainer Level 3 qualification in 2010, and since then he has worked as a personal trainer at Nuffield Health (formally Greens Health and Fitness). Whilst working there he focused his training towards strength and conditioning, Olympic weightlifting and training for sports performance.

Matt's main sport is rowing. He has previously been on the Great Britain Rowing Team Start programme, which was set up by GB Rowing to identify and develop potential Olympians, with six previous Start athletes winning medals at London’s 2012 Olympics. He also enjoys Olympic weightlifting, cycling and Crossfit, as well as having a background playing representative rugby.

Matt has now worked at the University of Cambridge Sports Centre for just over a year, and since working here he has worked with a wide variety of student athletes ranging in sports including judo, ice hockey, athletics, badminton and more.

His highlights so far have included working with the University’s men’s lightweight rowing squad on their strength and conditioning sessions, and seeing them win their 2015 Varsity Boat Race on The Thames against Oxford, as well as working with a disabled athlete looking to compete for Team GB in rowing.
