CUWBC Fields Fastest 2 Women’s Crews at Quintin Head

Cambridge University Women’s Eights both won their respective categories at the Quintin Head on Saturday with the Club’s 2nd Eight finishing ahead of any other University/Club first boat.

The 2 CUWBC crews placed 1st and 2nd overall out of all of the women’s Eights, winning the Elite and Senior Categories.

The 2nd VIII, racing in the Senior category was stroked by Millie Perrin (Trinity) who learned to row at Cantabrigian Rowing Club in Cambridge as a junior. Speaking after the race, Millie said;

“Racing Quintin Head this weekend was really exciting and it was an excellent marker to see how our speed as a crew is developing. Coming second overall just behind our first eight was incredibly satisfying, and I am looking forwards to seeing how much more speed we can develop out of this.”

Meanwhile, the CUWBC 1st VIII won the Elite category, in a strong time of 10:52.6, placing them 33rd out of 227 eights, ahead of many men’s crews.

Olivia Coffey (Homerton) sat in the six seat of the crew, and said;

“The race was a great opportunity to race against strong crews and test the changes that we’ve been working on over the past few week. As a team, we’ve stepped up our level of performance since the fall. I’m looking forward to building on this momentum and continuing to improve through The Boat Race.”
