Matthew Matcham

Matt began in the fitness industry in 2010 working as a personal trainer. During that time he focused his training towards strength and conditioning, Olympic weightlifting and training for sports performance.

Since joining the Sports Center in 2014 Matt has been part of the development of Sport and Strength & Conditioning at Cambridge University into what it is now, with multiple University Blues teams, National and international athletes based hear at the Center.

He has previously been on the Great Britain Rowing Team Start program, which was set up by GB Rowing to identify and develop potential Olympians, with previous Start athletes winning medals at London’s 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics. A highlight for Matts rowing was racing in various national regattas and competing at Henley in 2014.

His highlights at Cambridge University Sport so far have included working with the University’s men’s Lightweight Rowing, TASS & UCAPP athletes, Team GB Paralympic athletes in multiple sports and helping an Ex-Navel military personal begin there journey to compete that the Invictus games.

Fave food: Pretty much all food, BBQ (tastes better when it’s free!)

Fave book: MCN (Motorcycle News) (it’s not a book but more fun to read)

Most likely to be heard saying in gym: COME ON!!!! (Teaching circuits class)

Fun fact: Loves Beer
