Boat Club (Rowing)

Cambridge University Boat Club (CUBC) was formed on 1 August 2020, bringing together three historic clubs: CUBC (founded 1828), Cambridge University Women's Boat Club (CUWBC, founded 1940, first racing as Newnham in 1927) and Cambridge University Lightweight Rowing Club (CULRC, founded 1974). Together, they represent Cambridge University in rowing at both national and international levels.

CUBC supports experienced student athletes studying full-time at Cambridge, helping them develop their skills and compete nationally and internationally on behalf of the University.

Beginner-level rowers are supported at the College level rather through the club, but our development squad helps improving college rowers accelerate their progress.

As well as preparing for the Boat Races, crews may also race at  Henley Royal Regatta, the British Rowing Championships, Head of the Charles Regatta, the Fours Head, the Women’s Eights Head of the River Race, Head of the River Race and the British Universities & Colleges’ Sport (BUCS) Regatta.

As a unified club, all our resources are shared equally. Our ambition and focus remain unchanged: to set ourselves apart as a top international programme and to beat Oxford on the Tideway.
