Sports Awards 2026 - Sporting Moment

Vote for your Sporting Moment of the Year 2026. View the shortlisted moments below and vote for your winner;

1.  Alex Ramsay, CU Basketball Club

Alex defining moment came during Varsity against Oxford M1 Blues. Facing a 13-point deficit, Alex rose to the occasion with 16 points and two critical 4th-quarter 3-pointers that turned the tide. In the closing seconds, the team turned to Alex twice. His final three-pointer, beating two defenders with composed pump fakes and patience, put Cambridge up 70-68, sealing a dramatic comeback.

2. Deniz Ozer, CU Association Football Club

Deniz Ozer's Winning Goal in 2026 Men's Blues Football Varsity. This winning goal sealed the Men’s first back-to-back Varsity wins since 2014, and was also the first Varsity clean sheet for Cambridge since 2016 and during the clubs return of CUAFC to its historic home of Grange Road.

3. Greg Mak, CU American Football Club

Greg Mak, who had never defended a punt in his time at Cambridge, blocked the Lancaster punt, which was recovered in the endzone to give Cambridge a 7-2 lead. This was the spark that the team needed. After this Cambridge went into halftime up 17-2, and finished the game with a 34-16 victory over Lancaster, for our first ever BUCS cup win.

4. Tom Allen, CU Rugby League

The rugby league varsity was 20-18 to Oxford with the clock in the red. Seconds left to play. We had just been tackled 20m away from Oxford's try line in a crunching hit. We had to score to win. Will Roxburgh receives the ball, dummies, and slots through Tom Allen who runs 15m to score the winning try. Giving the club its first ever win in Oxford as a club at varsity, and the first ever double win (both 2's and blues winning) in our entire clubs history.
