Thursday 22 September 2011

Former Cambridge student, Annie Lush has became one of the first British athletes to be officially selected to compete for Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games. She will compete in the Elliot 6m Women’s Match Racing event, a new event for 2012, with team mates Lucy and Kate Macgregor. Annie started sailing as child but moved into other sports at Cambridge. As an outstanding athlete she very impressively achieved Blue status in three sports. Her main sporting focus at University was rowing and she was part of the crew that won the Women’s Boat Race in 2001. She was also a part of the successful 2002 Varsity Rugby team as well as representing the University in sailing. On leaving University she went back to the sport of sailing and has since competed with a number of professional teams from small keelboats to super yachts as well as being part of three Women’s Match Racing World Champion crews.

With National, European and World Championship titles behind them, the Match Racing team has rapidly risen through the ranks to lead the World Rankings and have a real chance of success in London 2012.
