When and how did you get into sport?

“I started training in Year 8 when a family friend recommended that I should train with a local coach. I have not looked back since! I still played hockey at the time, but after a few years I decided to focus purely on my running, and the results have followed.”

-UK no.2 and European top 25 U20  for 1500m in 2018.

-Varsity Match 1500m Champion and a mile PB of 4:00.8. 2019

-National XC Bronze, 2020 4th place (both junior men).

-Part of the Cambridge team that won a Sliver at BUCS XC

What is your advice for balancing sport and academia?

“It can be difficult to balance the two at points, however my sport forces me to effectively manage my time so I can complete both to a high standard. One of the good things about running is that you can do it at any time and place. This allows me to work my training around my contact hours and supervisions, which come first. That being said, I've always found that having running as an 'escape' has complemented my studies. A medicine degree can be highly stressful at times and having running has helped me to manage that and serve as a release, even if it's stressful in a very different way.”

What has the support from UCAPP meant to you?

“It has been a privilege to be a UCAPP athlete. The programme has provided me with a wide range of varied support that I did not receive before. Working with a nutritionist has educated me on appropriate fuelling and optimum nutrition. As well as this, conditioning work in the University gym is helping to lay the foundations to make me a stronger and more resilient athlete that will pay dividends in the future on my aim to make U23 and Senior international teams.”
