Cambridge University Yacht Club

About Us

Founded in 2003, Cambridge University Yacht Racing Squad organises and participates in an extensive program of racing, comprising both training events and races in the British University circuit as a section of the Cambridge University Yacht Club.

The racing squad is composed of 8 experienced sailors who all have extensive individual qualifications before joining the Cambridge team. As a team, we practice on Beneteau First 40s in Portsmouth England, in addition to the CUYC Club boats in Ipswich, England. Many of our members are RYA Yachtmaster qualifications and who have extensive international offshore sailing experience.

Training and Trips

The Yacht Club (CUYC) organises affordable yacht sailing for all past and present members of the university, whether experienced or just interested beginners. CUYC runs every type of yachting trip from relaxed cruising and social trips, to adventurous trips, RYA training and racing. During term time, trips go out on weekends throughout the year. Outside of term time, the club runs extended trips to attractive European cruising grounds. CUYC Racing is a competitive club culminating with Varsity and BUSA Yachting Nationals.
