Cambridge University Smallbore Club & Cambridge University Rifle Association
About Us
Rifle shooting is a fun sport for novices and experienced shots alike. CUSBC (our smallbore club) is most active in Michaelmas and Lent term, with a selection of postal matches and ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’ matches throughout the term, culminating in the BUCS championships and Varsity match in Lent, where we have had massive success in the past few years, winning the University of Cambridge Sports Awards ‘Team of the Year’ prize in 2020. CURA (the outdoor, fullbore component of shooting) is active from the Easter Vacation onwards, with competitions throughout the Summer term, and the highlight being the Imperial meeting, that takes place at the national shooting centre at Bisley at the start of the summer vacation, where you can shoot alongside the greatest shots in the country and compete in the fullbore BUCS and Varsity matches at ranges of upto 1200 yards! There are competitions at all levels, with the opportunity to compete for national teams. Furthermore, shooting is a very social sport, with the team gathering weakly at the Hawks’ Club for drinks and dinners taking place throughout the year both in Cambridge and Oxford.
