Welfare Officer Training

Mandatory for new Welfare Officers

The training, Essential Skills for Supporting Students, is delivered by the Students' Unions' Advice Service and provides attendees with tools to support their role as a Welfare Officer.

As per the Welfare @ Sport guide, each club must have a dedicated, trained Welfare Officer who can ensure the wellbeing of club members, by confidently signposting students to a range of different support services where necessary, and playing a key role in ensuring all club activity is inclusive and appropriate. This is an important role in club committees, and training is provided free of charge. We want to ensure that Officers are equipped as well as possible to deal with any issues that may arise in their club. If the elected Welfare Officer for your club feels that they already have suitable training to carry out the role, please let us know - sometimes individuals have undertaken separate training, for example Mental Health First Aid, which suitably qualifies them to carry out the role.

We have two options to choose from;

Monday 14th October - 2-5PM (Fully Booked as of 30th September!)

Friday 18th October - 2-5PM (Fully booked as of 2nd October!)

Both of these sessions are now fully booked. More sessions will be held if these are oversubscribed. Please email us ( if you would like to book but haven't secured a space for the two workshops above.
