A Remarkable BUCS Campaign for the Light Blues!
As we round off BUCS’s winter League and Knockout programme, lets look back on another very successful term for the Light Blues!
54 teams entered into competition at the start of Michaelmas, completing over 550 across 19 different sports. With all league fixtures now concluded, we are able to announce our 7 league champions! Congratulations to:
American Football Open 1, Football Men’s 1, Hockey Women’s 1, Hockey Men’s 2, Netball 4, Ultimate Women’s 1, and Water Polo Open 1.
Hockey Women’s 1 are the highest finishing team this year, bouncing back from National League relegation last year to win the Premier South division. Looking to secure their place in the Premier South for next year are Water Polo Open 1, who win Midlands Tier 1 and qualify for the promotion playoffs. Meanwhile American Football Open 1 have secured promotion to Tier 1 for 26/27 and will be competing against the very best from the Midlands next year! Our two new entrants for this season, Table Tennis Men’s 2 and Football Women’s 3, both had great first years in the BUCS programme, finishing second and third in their respective leagues.

Across various BUCS knockout’s, many of the Light Blues made it to the latter stages, with Table Tennis Men’s 1 avenging last year’s final loss to be crowned Midlands Conference Cup Champions!
Still to come are promotion playoffs for Hockey W1 Water Polo O1, and the Northern Conference Cup Final to be played for American Football O1 – best of luck to those involved!

Also from next week, our attention will turn to Easter’s League action, where Cambridge University Cricket Club (CUCC) will be competing with four teams in the BUCS National and Midlands leagues, the most Cambridge have ever entered!
