Monday 18 May 2020 10am Virtual Climbing Challenge

Being active is not only great for your physical health but can also improve your mental wellbeing by raising your self-esteem and helping you to set goals or challenges and achieve them (NHS). So as part of the Mental Health Awareness Week, the Sports Service are inviting individuals, Teams, Clubs, Departments and Colleges to join them in completing a Virtual Climbing Challenge.

There are a range of different individual, family and group challenges that you can take on from climbing the University Library Tower to scaling a mountain! You can do them in a day or across a week depending on the time you have available and your current fitness levels. There will also be the option to raise money for the University COVID-19 PPE Appeal Fund if you wish.

Tuesday 19 May 2020 10am Yoga - Transition from work life to home life

Watch this 10-minute routine giving you a practical Yoga session, perfect for transitioning between work and home. Instructed by Eloise, she will guide you through some stretches helping you become aware of how you breathe, move and feel.

Wednesday 20 May 2020 10am Workout of the Week Coach Lewis (University Sports Service) will provide you with a 30 minute workout, ideal for completing at home. Aimed for those new to home exercise, he will detail out exactly what to do, providing demonstrations for each exercise you need to complete. It's the perfect way to mark the middle of your week! Being kind to yourself is a pathway to calm and happiness. So why can it be so difficult to feel? And how do we set about feeling it more deeply and more often? Elizabeth (University Mindfulness Practitioner) explores the mindful tools that can

support you to bring this transformational quality more fully into your life, so that it flows naturally in towards yourself and out towards others.

Thursday 21 May 2020 12.15pm Mindfulness Live (Raven Protected)  What helps you stay motivated and engaged? What gets in the way of calm? A chance for you to bring your tips and your challenges and to explore them from a mindful perspective, leaving you with new ideas and plans as you prepare for your exams. Friday 22 May 2020 10.00am Nutritional Tips for Good Health

Performance Nutritionist Oliver Whiteman will provide some quick fire tips that everybody can apply to their everyday lives to enhance their health and wellbeing. Good nutritional habits don’t need to be complicated and with some minor tweaks to your diet you can be feeling and performing better.
