National Lockdown - New Restrictions

Due to the latest restrictions announced by the Government, we are required to close the University of Cambridge Sports Centre, Wilberforce Road Sports Ground and Fenner’s Tennis & Cricket Ground from Saturday 26th December. We had a planned closure in place over Christmas already, but our anticipated reopening on Saturday 2nd January will now be delayed until further notice.

Direct Debit Payments will be suspended, and Fixed Term Memberships extended to cover the full period of closure.

Due to reduced staff availability, we ask that enquiries are made only if absolutely necessary. Enquiries may take a little longer than usual to answer.

As the situation develops, any planned changes to the stated closure will be communicated with you as soon as possible.

In compliance with the new laws, we have made special provision for elite athletes who qualify for an exemption to the current government guidelines. The definition of elite athlete is very specific and anyone who wishes to be considered for access under this exemption must contact fitness@sport.cam.ac.uk with a letter from their NGB (Performance Director of equivalent), confirming their elite status.

Applications will be considered on an individual basis and training times will be limited.

We regret having to make this decision and understand it may cause some frustration to our customers, but we look forward to working with you in playing our part in containing the spread of Covid-19 and welcoming you back when this challenging time is over.

If you have any urgent questions about the closure, please email enquiries@sport.cam.ac.uk. Due to the high volume of enquiries, we kindly request your patience in awaiting a reply.

We will continue to update this page as any developments arise. (Last updated 09.15am on the 7 January 2021)
