Two CUAC athletes won medals at the BUCS championships at Bedford (April 30 - May 2). CUAC Womens Captain Emma Perkins won a gold medal in the High Jump with a new CUAC record of 1.81m, and Polly Keen won a silver medal in the 2000m steeplechase.

Both of these athletes proceeded to distinguish themselves further - Polly by winning the Varsity Match steeplechase on May 21 in a new CUAC record time of 7:00.67 secs; and the very next day, representing the British Universities in the Loughborough match, also broke the CUAC record for the longer, 3000m, steeplechase, in 11:02.98.

Emma Perkins, on May 21, won 4 events (100m hurdles, high jump, long jump and triple jump) in the Varsity Match against Oxford, and a week later, in the Inter-counties championships at Bedford, won the high jump with 1.82m bettering her recent CUAC record by 1cm.

The Varsity Match victories were by 134 - 76 in the Mens Blues match, a record margin, winning 17 of the 20 events. The Womens Blues team were victorious by 119 points to 81; the 119 being the highest ever winning score. They won 14 of their 19 events. The mens second team, the Alverstone Club beart the Oxford Centipedes by 131 points (16 wns0 to 81 (4 wins), and the womens second team, the Alligators beat the Oxford Millipedes by 117.5

Emma Perkins has just been picked to represent Britain in the High Jump in the European Team Championships in Stockholm on June 18-19, where she will join former Cambridge Athletics Blue Andy Baddeley, who is running the 3000m in the same competition.
