RUGBY FIVES - 2013 BUCS Tournament

Cambridge came out on top of all universities at the 2013 BUCS Rugby Fives tournament with the first pair of Ed Kay (Emmanuel) and Jacob Brubert (Queens’) winning the doubles title and with Kay also reaching the final of the singles tournament.

Held at Marlborough College from 22nd-24th November, Cambridge brought a record 12 players down to play in the singles and doubles tournament. In the doubles the first pair managed a repeat of last year’s final beating Bristol’s number 1 pair (Ackland and Rolls) in three close games 14-16, 15-8, 15-12. This was Kay's third doubles title and the second partnering Brubert.

Kay then lost in the singles final to Dan Grant of UCL who has now won three BUCS singles titles, again in a repeat of last year’s final. In the doubles plate tournament, open to all first and second round losers, the Cambridge third pair of Jacob Ader (Pembroke) and Jerry Ganendra (Jesus) narrowly lost in the final to Durham’s second pair in three tight games 11-15, 15-12, 15-13.
