TASS Athlete - Anthony Crutchett
Anthony is currently in his fourth year studying Management at Cambridge University. He has been fencing internationally for almost ten years and currently represents both the England and Great Britain Senior Men's Sabre Teams.
He took up fencing aged 8 at School in Brentwood, gradually doing more and more training until he entered the domestic competition circuit. From there he graduated to fencing at regional and shortly after national events.
He counts himself fortunate to have been able to travel extensively abroad with his sport. He has competed in Canada as a member of the U20 GB team, India for the Under 20 Commonwealth Games, where he won a gold medal in the team event, Thailand for the World University Games, and Beijing as a part of Team GB for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Fencing at Cambridge University has been a very important part of his life and he has greatly enjoyed competing in a multi weapon team, winning Varsity and BUCS Championships in the process. In 2008-9 he captained the University team to an unbeaten season.
Anthony is a 2010 BUCS Championships Sporting Champion representing UK University Sport.
Anthony is now focused on competing at London 2012.
