Tristan Coles


Tristan graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science & worked in California as a soccer coach & then at Greens Health & Fitness before joining the P.E. Department. He is an Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach (ASCC) through the UKSCA, a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with distinction (CSCS*D) and a Certified Personal Trainer with distinction (NSCA-CPT*D) through the NSCA & also a licensed SAQ® (speed, agility & quickness) trainer.  He also holds the following certifications: British Weightlifting Association (BWLA) Leaders Award, BWLA Weightlifting for Sports Award, YMCA Fitness Trainer & Assessor, YMCA Professional Gym Instructor, YMCA Circuits Instructor, YMCA Core Stability, YMCA Training in Different Environments, ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) Level 5 Award in Management, First Aid at Work & Automated External Defibrillation (St Johns Ambulance).

As well as performing inductions, writing personalised programmes for gym members & taking circuits classes both indoors and outside. He is also the lead strength & conditioning coach in the department working with elite athletes on the TASS scheme. While he also co-ordinates exercise referrals from the University Counselling service and the free weight inductions.  Tristan has also previously worked for Norwich City Football Club as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, while he has played football for Cambridge United and Leyton Orient centres of excellence and trained with England U18's.
