Piotr Golaszczyk

Piotr has extensive knowledge of exercise and injury prevention. Graduating from Aberystwyth University in Sport and Exercise Science, during this time Piotr took an advanced two year module in sports medicine in which he undertook a research dissertation looking at the effect of sports massage on Delay Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) after eccentric exercises. During 2008-2009 Piotr also obtained part-time work as a sports massage therapist at a second division Welsh rugby club, where he was responsible for pre-game preparation, sports massage and pitch side treatment. During this time Piotr was fortunate to work closely with local strength and conditioning coaches, where he learned about physical preparation in professional sports. After graduating from Aberystwyth University, Piotr enrolled in an MSc course in Sports Therapy where he increased his knowledge and skills in injury prevention, rehabilitation and treatment methods. At this time Piotr also become an accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach through UKSCA, which allowed him to work with professional athletes.

During Piotr’s time studying towards his MSc in Sports therapy, he also worked full time as the strength and conditioning coach for Warwick University. Piotr was responsible for coaching individual scholar athletes representing sports such as GB Sailing and GB Lacrosse, a Wheelchair Paralympian and many of the university focus teams.

Since being employed by the University of Cambridge Piotr has worked with a number of individual athletes and sports teams, providing strength and conditioning and rehabilitation services. Piotr successfully led the MCCU cricket strength and conditioning programme alongside Tristan during the 2014/2015 season.

Piotr is very proactive and he continues to work with several semi–professional and professional athletes outside of work.  By combining knowledge of sports therapy as well as strength and conditioning Piotr specialises in Performance Rehabilitation that allows injured athletes to quickly and effectively bounce back from injury and return to their sport and daily activities.
